Roots Pakistan   has  proactively embraced the   cause of   “ One  Health”, realizing that a holistic approach- integrating human, animal and environmental health(s) is the only way forward to deal with emerging new epidemics and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). Roots Pakistan is now poised to collaborate with all potential actors and players in this area, in and outside country, especially in SAARC region for fostering   cooperation on  “ One  Health” agenda.

One Health Initiative   (  http://www.onehealthinitiative.com/  will unite Human and Veterinary Medicine

The One Health Initiative is a movement to forge co-equal, all inclusive collaborations between Physicians, Osteopathic Physicians, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Nurses Association, American Association of Public Health Physicians, the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the U.S. National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). Additionally, more than 900 prominent scientists, physicians and veterinarians worldwide have endorsed the initiative.

It may be remembered that World Health Organization (WHO) and World Animal Health Organization (OEI) jointly launched ‘One Health’ campaign  on  World Health Day in 2016. As a follow up each ear One Health Day is celebrated worldwide.

Initiated in 2016 by three leading One Health groups, International One Health Day is celebrated around the world every year on November 3. The goal of One Health Day is to build the cultural will necessary for a sea change in how planetary health challenges are assessed and addressed. One Health Day will bring global attention to the need for One Health interactions and allow the world to ‘see them in action’.  The One Health Day campaign is designed to engage as many individuals as possible from as many arenas as possible in One Health education and awareness events and to generate an inspiring array of projects worldwide.

One Health Day is an international campaign launched in November 2016, co-coordinated by the One Health Commission, the One Health Initiative Autonomous pro bono Team and the One Health Platform Foundation.
